Close Up

I finally had the chance to renew my driver's license a day after my birthday. I just had to post this funny incident. I had my license renewed in the San Juan LTO branch. I cannot go to those LTO centers in malls because I still need to have my name changed (Maiden to Married name).

Each window in the San Juan LTO branch had a microphone/PA system so that they don't need to shout the names of the person that they need to call. Counter 6 is specifically for photo and signature capturing. One of the licensee whose picture was just about to be taken had the unfortunate experience of being corrected by the LTO officer:

Licensee: (standing in front of the window, very near the cam)
LTO Officer: "Ay, atras pa. Atras ka pa. Ang laki ng mukha mo sa monitor"

The LTO Officer said this over the PA system. Everybody laughed. I suddenly forgot how sleepy I was.

Propagating friendship award

Thanks jeng for this award.

I love the blogs of these people and I'm glad to pass this award onto them! All they need to do is to leave the following message on their post when they pass the award on to their chosen eight bloggers. They all are charmed with the blogs, where in the majority of its aims are to show the marvels and to do friendship; there are persons who are not interested when we give them a prize and then they help to cut these bows; do we want that they are cut or that they propagate? Then let's try to give more attention to them! So with this prize we must deliver it to 8 bloggers that in turn must make the same thing and put this.

I'm passing this to Issa, Leira, Mec, Jenny, Rocks, avee, tna and Pat.

Ageless

Another year has been added to my age last Wednesday as I celebrated my birthday. Fortunate that I am small in built that people actually have a hard time guessing my age. But I cannot hide the fact that some lines are beginning to show my real age. I need resurgence of my skin. I need to find a way to actually keep it fresh and healthy.

It's quite funny to say that it is actually a wish coming true having come across the resurgence infomercial. I can really relate to what was shown in that short clip. Knowing how good murad has been to my skin (my help during acne breakouts) I am glad to have know as well of murad resurgence. This way I'm sure to bring back the moisture that my skin needs and for sure it's gonna be a great experience whenever my birthday comes. I can't wait to see the look on someone's face whenever I say my age. Nobody will ever believe it by time I start giving my face the attention and care that it deserves.

I think this can also be a good Christmas gift for my mom and mother-in-law. I’m sure that this will top their current beauty regimen. Hmm, I wonder if they will give me a discount if I get two sets of the resurgence product. Maybe I’ll just sign-up in their membership program to make sure that I get discounts every time I get a product.

Colorstrology

Joanne gave me this tag I think a week ago. I'm doing this in line with my birthday week.

I'm celebrating this Wednesday, September 24.
MY BIRTHDAY MONTH: SEPTEMBER
Color: Baja Blue
Character: Divine, Discerning, Artistic

MY BIRTH DATE: 09. 24
Color: Cornflower Blue
Character: Romantic, Emotional, Musical
Profile: LOVE is very important to you as is the need to connect with others. You are highly romantic and function best when you are in a healthy relationship. Although you can be emotional, you have a keen mind and a sharp wit. Harmony and a happy home and family hold great comfort for you. Your personal color resonates with clarity. Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself with Cornflower Blue lends discrimination to your ability when choosing partners and close associates.

Let see the colors of Kathycot, Donna and Can.

My not-so-great week

I feel so.....tired.

Last thursday, we came home at around 11:00 P.M. to find out that Zye had fever. He had a 38 degree Celsius temperature and cannot sleep well. I had to monitor his temperature, giving him tsb every now and then. He woke up almost every 30-minutes and I had to carry him in my arms just to let him go back to sleep.

Morning came and he was already okay. Unfortunately, come Friday night, he had ver again still at the same temperature. This time the temperature rises to 39 degrees almost every two-hours. Having prayed over him, I gave him his initial dose of paracetamol and gave at the interval of four hours.Morning came and the temperature still didn't go down. I had to give him tsb every hour to make sure the fever gets controlled. We had his platelet count checked Saturday afternoon and it turned out that he was still in the two-weeks incubation period of his chicken pox vaccine. Thank God because his fever went bye-bye by Saturday evening.

It turned out though that he had measeles (tigdas hangin as we normally call it). His body now has a map of red rashes especially in the chest and back area. He slowed down in taking milk so I'm really worried that his sickness is affecting his appetite. On the contrary though, he eats his cereals with gusto and I think he doesn't like milk that much anymore so we have to make sure he eats more now. Of course, we won't be eliminating his formula. We just don't want him to lose weight.

And now I realize that my sleep will never, ever be the same again.

Back on the block

If you've read my latter post, it is true. The New Kids are back on the block!
I'm not so sure what prompted the come back because the last thing I heard in the music scene is the NSync comeback (which I totally love as well..who could resist Mr. Timberlake?). But NKOTB definitely brings back much more memories for me.

It was the craze I got into when I was in highschool. They were the boy band that I fell in love with after the 80's hit Menudo (I know...you don't have to remind me that this meant a long, long time ago). They were amazing performers and I even had their concerts video taped. I had tons of cassette tapes of their recorded albums (Uhuh! CDs were not yet around during my highschool days!) and had almost all of their songs memorized. My girlfriends and I shout at the mere saying of their group name. We fantasize about meeting them in person.

*Sigh* It's so nice going back to memory lane.

Multiple choice

The other day, I was teasing a friend of mine that she would have to sponsor my ticket to the U.S. for me to be able to go there for vacation since my husband and I are on a tight budget. She laughed out loud with that. Yesterday, she had a new proposal. She was asking me to choose one from the following choices: Madison Square Garden Tickets, Radio City Music Hall Tickets , or Giants Stadium Tickets. I was surprised, confused and excited with the choices she gave me. I asked her why and she said that the offer is only good if I don't ask any questions. I'm actually torn between the garden and radio city but knowing that New Kids On the Block will be having a concert on October 27 made me realize I'd love a ticket to Madison Square Garden for that particular show.

So what's the deal with the choices she gave me? She's buying me a ticket to the October 27 show on Madison Square garden and it's up to me if I'm going to show up or not. Talk about dilemna! Maybe someone can sponsor my plane ticket as well. Hmmm.

Clearing my way

Getting a new pair of glasses is certainly not on our budget list. But I need to buy one since I accidentally sat on my old glasses. Don't even ask why. Looking at the brighter side, I now have an excuse to get a new pair of eyeglasses.

Luckily I saw Zenni Optical $ 8 Rx Eyeglasses. I saw a lot of Incredible Stylish New Frames From Zenni while browsing through their product catalogue. So I guess I'll just shop for my new glasses on-line. I have my eyes set on this half-rim stainless steel frame which I think is perfect for my face. Talk about headlines, Zenni Optical was on FOX news! That's why I know for sure I'm getting a good quality product.

I'm excited already. Here's an advance birthday gift for myself!

Matters of the heart

I was watching t.v. yesterday and my heart really goes out to this mother who needs to undergo mitral valve replacement but didn't have enough resources to have it done.

I know, you're probably thinking "Mitral what?" I had the same question in my head so naturally I searched it to find out what the whole thing was about. Mitral valve apparently is that valve lying between the left atrium and the left ventricle. If my memory serves me right, this particular valve actually has a lot to do with the blood flow happening with the heart's left atrium and left ventricle. Of course any abnormalities happening (whether narrowing or problems with the blood flow) will result to mitral valve repair which is done through surgery.

Imagine that sort of scientific explanation I just did and picture that condition happening to a mother of four. Heartbreaking is the best word to describe what I felt while watching the lady. I can only pray that her kids will be able to raise the funds that she needs to push through with the surgery. I hope that she'd get the best doctors as well.

In such case, I can only imagine how short our lives are. Let's live it to the fullest.

Bed time story

No, it's not your average nightie-night story.

I have been sick this week and have gotten well acquainted with our bed again. Thus, this becomes a bed time narration. I just hate the feeling of not feeling well.

So my week was spent watching re-runs of Charmed and seeing the movie Charlie's Angels for the nth time. After a hundred glasses of water and a few days of just dozing off, I'm a bit better now because I can stand staring at the computer monitor longer than did the past few days.

Now let's get back to business.

Life can be easier

One big challenge especially whenever you have a large group of contacts is updating your database to have an active directory. Can you even imagine the effort that you have to do just to make sure that the addresses and contact numbers in your list are updated? And just how thankful I am that there is a company that actually provides active directory tools in their product catalogue.

Great idea? I think it’s pure genius. Ensim provides different software applications particularly those that help in the Active Directory Management and not to forget Microsoft Exchange. Having been in the I.T. industry myself, I know how such tools help make the job faster and easier. It speeds up my day’s work and I have much more time to concentrate with the project at hand.

If that piece of information did not make you happy, I believe knowing that they cater from small businesses up to large enterprises will make you curve a smile. Imagine having a management software that will cater to your need now matter how little or big it is? Now that is what I call great service.

It’s time to rejoice now. Productivity will be at it’s highest with such helpful products.

The gift giving season

I never liked rushing myself whenever shopping. That's mainly the reason why I shop for Christmas gifts as early as August. It's never too early to start preparing for the Christmas season. Besides, I have quite a long list so I really need to get a head start.

It's easy to look for gifts for kids and teenagers. It's quite hard to look for the perfect gift for families especially whenever we are invited to a particular home during the holidays. My husband suggested that instead of the usual gifts we should just look for a good champagne or wine to give to our relatives and family friends so that they can enjoy it while celebrating Christmas or New Year's Eve.

Scouting for the perfect one, I was able to find a selection of champagne gift baskets on the internet. I'm getting the Champagne and Chocolate basket for our relatives while our family friends will get the treat of Champagne and Caviar as our holiday treat for them. I'm still choosing the champagne that I'll be getting for us. I think I'd like to have a good toast before the year ends.

We need friends

Thankyou Issa for this one. :)

We need friends for many reasons, all throughout the season.
We need friends to comfort uswhen we are sad,
and to have fun with us when we are glad.
We need friends to give us good advice,
We need someone we can count on,and treat us nice.
We need friends to remember us once we have passed
sharing memories that will always last.

Satisfaction

I love cooking shows!!!! Even before I became a housewife, I am fascinated by the way chefs do their thing on t.v. Aside from the fact that you end up drooling and hungry, you just have to admire the way they make their dishes. It's just like a work of art, only it satisfies your growling stomach.

Naturally my love for food leads me to discover different recipes that I am yet to try. I came across this dish called Shrimp and Andouille Cassoulet originating from Louisiana created by Chef Brian Landry. Browsing the site I found out that this recipe is among the five chosen as the finalist for a cook off. Of course I just had to find out what the other recipes were but I still came back for Chef Brian's cassoulet. Why? Because for me it's easy to make yet the ingredients on it's own are so tasteful that it speaks for itself. For me, the ingredients speak a lot for the food's quality while the procedure will assure you if it is easy enough to be followed by anyone. I may try this one though with bacon (I'm a certified bacon lover) and I'm thinking if this can be done with rice as well. Well. I'll try the beans first before I move on with experimenting with rice.

Seafood definitely warms the stomach as well as your soul. For me, it is one of my comfort food. I go for the native or domestic seafood because I wouldn't want to sacrifice its freshness. The quality of seafood based recipes will really be dependent on how fresh the catch is.

You may want to check out http://www.greatamericanseafoodcookoff.com/ to see the seafood recipes that I'm talking about. The best part is, you may even get a chance to win a trip to New Orleans. Now wouldn't that be something?

Capturing moments

I missed having to update my blogs but I have been busy making a new one. I think I'm beginning to be a serial blogger. Harhar!

Seriously, I just thought of making a photoblog as I have dreamed of having one way before I started blogging. We have so much picture that I just want to have it posted somewhere so that I can access it anytime, anywhere. I want our pictures to have it's own nest separate from the words and just let it speak for itself.

It's still in the process of becoming a really nice photoblog. And I love the title I gave it. You may want to check it out here.

Breaking out

It's that time of the month when nothing seems to go well. You try so hard and yet your best simply isn't good enough. You wonder why it happens even if you did everything that they told you to do and avoided the things that aggravates the situation. Still you end up getting hurt.

Oh this is not at all poetry. I'm just talking about my pimples!

Yes, there is that particular time of the month when my acne just seems to act up on my helpless little face. Amazingly I was relieved to have been introduced to Acne complex so my usual zit outbreaks have been more controlled. Of course when I surrender to the guilty pleaseure of eating too much oily food, acne still finds its way to me. I have called such as my murad acne because it surprises me how it still grew on me even when I have used murad acne complex regularly. I guess my poor diet (or should I say stubbornness?) will lead me to have acne problem inspite of the good habit of using acne complex. You can't blame me though. Who could resist those tempting fries and chips? Or that oh so yummy deep-fried spicy chicken wings?

Talk about choosing. I know, my face is still more important than my cravings. I just wish I have that much courage to say no always. Hmm, I have to make a mental note though to remind my brother-in-law to try murad acne complex. Maybe I'd get him one as an early Christmas present. He'll definitely have a great holiday once he experiences the change that he'll get.

License story

Talk about inconvenience!

I am suppose to renew my driver's license this year and since my birthday is coming soon I wanted to renew it before the deadline.

Since they have these new mall-based license renewal center, I went there for convenience and to avoid having to get in line. Apparently, if you're changing your name (Maiden to Married name) you can only do it in their licensing offices.

Yeah, I went to the trouble of going to the mall only to find out I can't have my license renewed their.

Get in line! Grrr!!!

The truth about love

The thing about being married is that I am now licensed to talk about intimacy more openly. It may sound funny but coming from such a conservative background made me feel as if it is actually a sin to talk about sex.

Why in the world am I talking about this? Because a friend of mine (I will not even dare write her name) met up with me last weekend to talk about things that has been bothering her. It seems as if she is experiencing some kind of problem with her husband. So I was thinking the usual problems that I hear from married friends: husband always coming home late, too much time with friends, immaturity. It was none of the things I mentioned. Apparently, they've been having intimacy problems because her husband can't get it up most of the times.

Yes, in a more medical term, her husband has is experiencing erectile dysfunction. Knowing how positive my friend is, she wasn't disheartened upon learning her husband's condition. She just ecncouraged him to talk it out with a doctor and maybe he can get a prescription to help him out. Unfortunately, the first round of medication did not do him good. Her husband is already getting frustrated but I do have to give credit to his effort because he still went to the doctor to try out another one. If I remember it right, he was given Cialis this time. He went home full of hope, not wanting to fail the second time around.

Good for them because my friend called me up to tell me the good news that the prescribed medicine given to help out her husband worked and she has never seen him so happy. That's the least to say because my friend was just as happy. The tension has eased up and she now gets better sleep knowing that they now have the chance to have their own family.

I think this is one piece of good news. I am happy that I never had to be in such a situation. But this story has proven that even if sex can sometimes be overrated (or under rated in some cases) it still is an important factor in keeping your marriage more solid. That and some other things as well.

The wonders of science. Fascinating, isn't it?

Rain on our bed

Literally, our bed was soaked the other night only to find out that the airconditioning unit is leaking. When my husband checked it, it seems that the aircon unit needs to be cleaned and checked out by the servicing crew. Apparently, if the aircon's thermostat is too high, it leaks.

Talk about getting wet!

FYI

I believe that the internet is almost synonymous to the word information. We search almost everything on the web: definition, movie schedule, diet tips, location, statistics, forex. You name it, the world wide web will search it.

My need for information makes me more drawn to websites that gives tips and reviews that help me to understand the things that I want to use or try. The other day when I was trying to find out the specifications of the Nokia N96 model I came across this Help Me To site that gave a short but informative article about the mobile gadget. I even had a glimpse of HTC's new line of smart mobile phones which I honestly haven't heard of.

What's more interesting about the site is that it gave seo tips that gave me hints on how to help my site. The helpful tips doesn't end there because the site was also gracious enough to share information on how to make money. If that's not interesting, I don't know what is. But that sealed the deal for me. I just had to mark this as one of my faves.

Technology can really be very rewarding.

Steeling the scene

Since I visualize a modern style home for us, I went browsing the net again but this time to window shopping for stainless steel furnishings. You have to admit that stainless steel will always equate to new age style while maintaining a classy, elegant look.

Lucky me that I found my way to this site that caters exactly to the look that I want. I may go over with my budget though because they do have a lot of the stuff I've been looking for! Like this great steel coffee canister and creamer. They also have this blomus stainless steel teaset that will complete my kitchen.

I also have my eyes set on the blomus stainless steel firepit. It's compact, it's light and it can be used in a variety of things. I can even bring it during youth camp. I have to mention the blomus stainless steel fireplace set to my cousin who's been looking for one for ages. He'd definitely love it! Will our home be soon called a house of steel?
Well, that's for me to know and for you guys to find out.

The newest way to buzz

Here I go again starting my day by searching about blog advertising and trying to learn more about how it works, which ones are for real and how to make use of it to my advantage.

Today I came across Bloggers Review and it is the first time that I have actually heard about it. So the curious I browsed their site and checked out their market and the services that they offer. Aside from blog advertising they also have website advertising that can be maximized by advertisers. I love the fact that they help you out in getting more people to go to your site by being the featured blog of the day as well as the opportunity that they give out to bloggers to actually earn a little more while doing the thing that they love best. Who says writing cannot be rewarding? Your skills can be put to good use by helping out in reviewing companies and products. I signed in, joined their circle of bloggers to find out what's in it for me. I like the simplicity of their site because it tells you exactly where you should go. You don't really need to be too technical just to find your way around.

If I had a business, I will hand it to Bloggers Review to do my marketing for me because it will surely not cost me my arm and legs. They can actually work on advertising your business at a very low cost. I’ve got to hand it to these guys in making a convenient way to give your biz a buzz.

The crawler

Still on Zye...

Yesterday morning at around 5, I woke up because of Zye's movement. He is co-sleeping with us, right in the middle of me and Dong with pillows at the end of the bed. I thought that he was hungry and while I was preparing his bottle I was shocked to see him crawling towards the bed's headboard. What shocked me even more was when I found out he was still deep in his sleep while he was crawling! Yes, our son is sleepcrawling! I wasn't able to go back to bed at once because I was afraid that he might sleepcrawl again. Tonight, he's back to sleeping in his make shift bed on our bedroom floor. We simply cannot take our chances.

Of course, I am still worried because his head might bump the corners of the bed but at least we won't be waking up at the sound of a loud thug only to find out that our son has jumped off the bed.

Hay. If ony he would sleep in his crib then there will be less worries for me.

One more month to go...

I'm now officially having mixed emotions regarding our son soon becoming a toddler.

*SIGH*

Zye turned 11 months yesterday. Next month he will be celebrating a year of blessings and good health. He is no longer a baby.

How it makes me smile to see our boy growing up well. I have some fears but seeing how God's goodness has worked since the day I conceived him erases all my worries. I know our son is going to be just fine. No, I believe our son is going to do great!

Have you ever wondered why all the memories of yesterday just seem to flash before your eyes whenever you watch you kid sleeping? Well, that is why I have posted here pictures of Zye sleeping. From his first few days here on earth when he was so tiny ( I think he can fit in a big shoe box!) to his latest chubby cheek picture. Our son has definitely come a long way. Ha! I talk as if my son will be graduating from college soon.

Of course, I am excited more than ever to seeing more of his teeth. I am anxious to see him walk on his own without support. I know I'd be running as well when he starts to run but by that time, I'm sure that I am all set to catch him if he runs away from my side.

There will still be no big, fancy celebration. But we will be partying our hearts out in our own special way. I'm preparing for it as well. We love you Zye!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy 11th month sweetie! Let's scout for a new rubber shoes. Your all grown-up now.

Part two of the blues

I got over the shoes blues that's why I am following up my post about it. Got confused? So did I.

I am looking for flat shoes. I can't have too much high-heeled shoes because that would entail much effort from me especially when our son is with us. I have to be able to run faster than the speed of light if the situation calls for it.

It doesn't mean that because it's comfort that I want, style should suffer. I found some really cute flat shoes on the web. The only (and biggest) challenge is finding my shoe size.

The old classic ballerina style flat shoes. I think they never go out of style. They are cute, comfy, simple. In this picture, I would want the green and the brown. I think they would look best with my casual skirt, pedal pants, shorts and skinny jeans.

I love this white flats by Marc Jacobs because there is elegance in its simplicity. I've never had white shoes before (except when I was a kid) but I think this one will do justice to my wardrobe and would look great with my white head band!

Focus your attention on the bronze (or should I say gold?) shoes. It's not exactly flat but the heels are so short that they are almost negligible. I think it was placed there just to add sophistication to the shoe itself. These are new sytles from Marie Nicole.

I forgot the site from which I got this image but I sure do love this two-tone flats! I love the design and how you can actually wear this with your casual shirt and jeans outfit or even while sporting a cute little dress. Crap! How I wish my feet was of the generic size.

Dilemna, dilemna. Only if the shoe fits. I hope it does!

Shoes blues!

I like shoes. I don't usually buy a lot and maybe it's also because my feet is quite small and my choices are really limited.

So I usually buy shoes on a one time big deal and I barely shop again until they are almost worn out (except for slippers or sandals because these are my staple already so they really wear out easily)

Now, I need to buy new shoes. My favorite flats are slowly tearing itself apart, my wedged one is cracking on the side and my closed black shoes is showing signs of white spots due to old age. The thing is it's not in the budget (saving up for our son's first birthday even if we're not planning anyting fancy!) and, like it's not meant for me to buy, they don't have good styles for shoe sizes that will fit me. Talk about frustration.

On a better, brighter side, I finally had the time to buy the materials that I need for my shirt design project. Maybe that is why I wasn't able to buy shoes. I think I have to work hard first before splurging again on shoes.

Nothing beats rewarding oneself after a great accomplishment. I'll talk about the shoes I want next time. I can only take as much for one day.

Going to places...in style!

Pardon me, but I do not have my own luggage. Yes, I am shamelessly admitting to the whole internet world that I just borrow luggage from family members whenever traveling.

I know, how do I go about dreaming to travel in every tourist destination when I haven't even gone to the luggage store to buy my own set of traveling bag? I honestly did not like to buy one because I find them too generic. I mean, what's the point of getting my own bag if everybody else's luggage looks almost exactly like mine!

Finally I have been convinced by a friend of mine that there are great deals of designer luggage that she thinks will suit my need. She was right because my heart is already set to buy this lovely Vera Bradley Java Blue luggage! The only problem now is choosing between the rolling duffel or the two-compartment type. I have to decide before our next vacation.

My multi-tasking phone

My need to organize my life (I'm exaggerating. It's my schedule that's really a mess!) once more brought me to searching for applications which I thought did not really existed.

In a previous post, I have already mentioned that I was able to install a software that allowed me to edit my word documents and excel sheets. After that, I was able to find a dictionary for my phone, a password-protected notepad, and a simple notepad that can be viewed while not on its edit mode.
I already have a bible in my phone, adobe acrobat reader and winzip. Yeah, I know! Is my phone functional or what! I love it. Add to that the great themes that I was able to download the past few days.

For the software of the applications I just mentioned you can click here. Make sure that you choose the correct mobile phone and be cautious enough to read if it is a freeware or a demo version. I am yet to rate them because I have just used them for a couple of days. Give me until next month to have a full review of the software I used.
